VETERANS' MINISTRY

praying soldiers in uniform

Mayslake Ministries is proud to announce a new and innovative spiritual renewal program for returning veterans and their families.  As we all know,  for many of our soldiers, life has been changed by their experiences of deployment and mobilization.  Coming Home to Christ is a program designed to help our military men and women come to spiritual healing and reconciliation with God and one another in the light of the Gospel message.  This program will address the issues of Post-Traumatic Spiritual Stress.

Sr. Linda McClenehan, Army chaplain and Vietnam veteran, has facilitated our first Veterans Retreat at Cardinal Stritch Retreat House in Mundelein.  Enthusiasm was high for this event...and more retreats are scheduled. Participants will be encouraged to share their stories in the context of a safe and Christian environment.

Post-Traumatic Spiritual Stress
can affect a person for years after he or she has returned home from active duty.   If you or a loved one are in need of spiritual healing, and would like more information about our Veteran’s ministry, please contact Dr. Mary Amore at 630-268-9000. There is NO charge for this retreat for our vets.

FOR THOSE WHO WAIT

Mayslake Ministries, in conjunction with Sts. Peter and Paul in Naperville, is beginning a spiritual support group for families of our military stationed overseas. All branches of service are included. This group is a companion ministry to our Veteran's Ministry, "Coming Home to Christ," which provides free retreats to help with Post Traumatic Spiritual Stress. There is no fee for this program but pre-registration is desired. Please contact Dr. Mary Amore to register for a session or for more information on sites in your area.
